This region of the Costa Dorada is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and unspoilt regions of the Mediterranean coast. For beach lovers the coastline offers an abundance of stunning blue flag sandy beaches, three of which you will find within the estate of Tres Calas itself, and quiet coves with crystal clear waters ideal for magnificent snorkelling and scuba diving, all along the immediate costaline. Nearby there are fabulous harbour towns including L’Ametlla De Mar and L’Ampolla, and mountain villages steeped in culture and history.
The largest theme park in Europe Portaventura, Costa Caribe Water Park and Ferrari Land, are located 25 minutes away by car, plus there are 2 other water parks, Aquapolis and AquaLeon.
The traditional and quaint fishing village of L’Ametlla de Mar is located just 5mins away by car, ideal for wander around the shops, a relaxing drink on the harbour watching the catch of the day being reeled in, a meal at one of the many Traditional Catalan or International restaurants, or a more lively evening in one of the many bars. There is an indoor market held everyday selling fresh fish and produce, and a twice weekly outdoor market offering great value clothing and souvenirs.
Just south of L’Ametlla de Mar, you will find the harbour town of L’Ampolla, offering a selection of restaurants including; Tapas, Fish and seafood, Italian and International restaurants, many overlooking the harbour. L’Ampolla has 2 fabulous beaches and is the “gateway” to the Ebro Delta.
Reus is a beautiful city, with a fabulous atmosphere both during the day and at night. Reus was the birth place of the famous designer and architect Gaudi, and his influence is very noticeable in the beautiful buildings and church there.
The old town of Tarragona is also beautiful, with a stunning Cathedral, and many Roman remains including the outstanding Roman amphitheatre overlooking the sea, and the tunnels where the Romans held their Chariot Racing.
The influence of Gaudi has made Barcelona one of the most impressive cities in the world. There is so much to see and do in Barcelona it is impossible to list them all, so to name but a few; Gaudi’s unfinished masterpiece the Sagrada Familia, various Gaudi buildings, and the stunning Park Guell. There is an impressive Cathedral located in the Gothic quarter and the Olympic quarter the home of the Olympic games which were held in 1992, there is cable car here, and another cable car which take you around the harbour. And of course not to be forgotten the home of Barcelona Football team Camp Nou.
For a more relaxing day out the Ebro Delta nature reserve Eco-Tourism detsination is within a 25minute drive and is truly stunning, it is world renowned for the rare species of wildlife and birds. The beaches are incredible, the sand dunes were used as the setting in the film 'Sahara' starring Penelope Cruz.
There are also lots of routes to take up into the picturesque mountains, where you will find lots of pretty mountain villages and views that will take your breath away. There is the green route cycle route, which takes in some spectacular scenery. Another area of outstanding beauty into the mountains is the gorge named Font Calda.
